The National Windsurfing Festival or NWF for short is now in its fifth year and continues to go from strength to strength. Formerly known as the Fat Face Night Windsurf event, it is the biggest and best windsurfing event in the UK, attended by over 400 windsurfers and attracting over 3500 spectators.
The event is aimed at the intermediate sailor with fun and easy sailing being the key to the events success. As night closes in you can also watch the Pro sailors continue racing, in the dark! A truly awesome spectacle.
When is it? 4th and 5th of September.
Where is it? The event takes place on Hayling Island, Hants.
Whats on offer? Free camping at the event site. Free clinics from the likes of Jem Hall, Simon Bornhoft, Jim Collis, Pete Hart and Ant Baker. Entry to an epic party for all ages. The chance to see all the new toys for 2011 and rub shoulders with the stars. You can also try your hand at a very simple racing format known as a ‘Master Blaster’. This format is easy to run and requires the sailor to sail out to a buoy, gybe and sail back. It’s that simple! All the races offer a chance to win some epic prizes from holidays to boards and sails.
It’s a super chilled out weekend and well worth the journey.
