There are plenty of interesting attractions within easy reach of the club for you and / or your partner and family to enjoy, including a scenic walk around the reservoir: see
http://www.skiptonweb.co.uk/tourist/walks/37_grimwith/index.htm for a pictorial guide
For example Rylstone, the home of the now world famous Rylstone Women's Institute featured in the film Calendar Girls is 9 miles southwest of the club. Many of the sites used in the film such as Burnsall and Kettlewell are also nearby.
Just 10 miles from the Club, you can walk amongst the country's most awe-inspiring rock formations at Brimham Rocks - a National Trust site which is a must to visit. Brimham is hard to describe - it simply has to be seen to be believed.
Only 14 miles away, is the World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, widely regarded as the finest Cistercian monastic ruin in Europe. I'm not normally into this sort of thing, but this is classic, special and well I haven't enough superlatives to do it justice but if you can, it's definately worth making the time to see.
A short distance from the club, discover the enchanting underground world of Stump Cross Caverns, with its illuminated display of stalagmites and stalactites. Stump Cross has a cafe with good food as well as a huge display of crystals etc from around the world which are, not suprisingly this being Yorkshire, available for purchase.
At the upper end of the Nidderdale lies How Stean Gorge, an amazing limestone cleft/mini gorge, known locally as 'Little Switzerland' - also has another good cafe with irresistable cakes - you've been warned!
About 3 miles from Grimwith is Parceval Hall which is open to the Public and has extensive award winning gardens. (Gardens - That's where you'd be if you didn't go sailing)! Just above the Hall is Trollers Gill - another limestone gorge but unlike How Stean, this is totally non-commercial and is quite eirie. Water goes in at the top of the gorge, dissapears and re-emerges at the bottom in several large 'springs'. It's a marvelous natural wonder that's little visited - presumably because there's no Cafe!
Bolton Abbey is another interesting ruined monastery and the Bolton Abbey Estate offers many other things to do including The Strid Walk (not recommended for nervous types or recently jilted lovers if you get my drift). They also offer a range of generally expensive but classy accommodation and there is also Howgill Lodge Caravan Park
Other favourites easily accessible from Grimwith are Lightwater Valley Theme Park, the spectacular Malham Cove and nearby Gordale Scar, the overhanging splendour of Kilnsey Crag, the Abbey at Jervaulx and Masham's old established breweries - hic!
If you must, there's top class shopping in Harrogate or even Leeds for the seriously addicted. There's a popular market at Skipton as well as the Medieval Skipton Castle and nearby Embsay Steam Railway
Many visitors enjoy just having walk or drive in one of the many 'picture perfect' Yorkshire Dales such as Upper Wharfedale, Littondale, or Nidderdale perhaps stopping for refreshments or sightseeing in one of the lovely villages.
Of course just exploring the Dales with its magnificent scenery, wonderful villages and relaxed pace is more than enough reason for many to visit and stay in the area.
