Gybe Scheme
GYBE stands for 'Groups of Youth Boating in Education'.
In accordance with our charitable aims the club actively supports GYBE by allowing free use of the water and club facilities.
GYBE
You can windsurf or sail using our equipment, (we have a fleet of 16 craft). We have wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets, trailers, etc and most important good safety boats. One of our aims is to make water activities accessible to as many young people as possible. Yorkshire Dales SC is a member of the scheme and has access to all the benefits and equipment.
We operate under the umbrella of NY County Council Outdoor Education Service. Any group organised for young people can join, and we currently have 13 groups. Each group pays a joining fee of £200 and for this we will train up to two leaders to the standard that is necessary to take the youngsters out. The annual fee is then only £30. It's then just £6.00 per person per session to cover our costs.

Gybe weekends are great fun! For many of the youngsters it's the first time in a boat or on, (and off!!) a windsurfer. Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club encourages these young people, and their families, to become club members and many of them are now regular sailors at Grimwith.
