Icicle Series 2012

29th January

Races 7 & 8 were held in a very light breeze. It didnt look like there would be any sailing for a while as the lake was still glassy calm at the start time. A 30 minute postponement by OOD Andrew Straton did the trick though as a fitful 'force  ½ ' covered part of the lake and so a course was set in that area.  10 boats ventured out for R7 - some of them even making the start line! The drifter that followed wasn't exactly spectator freindly, so suffice to say Soeren (Finn) won it on the water and on handicap from Chris and Laura RS200, with Dave Walker in another Finn 3rd and Bill Pickups Laser 4th.

Race 8 started in a decent force 1 - but that soon disappeared making the first lap pretty slow. The breeze did return for the last two laps and this time Chris / Laura took the win from Soeren and Jonathan / Terry in another RS200 who narrowly beat John Simms Laser after he'd had a great Race with Bill Pickup.



In the series, Chris and Laura jump from 4th take the lead from Mike and Josh (RS800), Its all very close with just 3½  points between 1st and 4th. Jonathan and Terry are now just in front of Phil (Vortex) in the 3rd and 4th places, while Soeren in 5th needs just one more decent result to be right in the mix.

Chris and Laura are off hunting bigger and better pots at the Tiger trophy next weekend (good luck team Pix), so its quite likely the lead will change again very soon.
